Meeting Log [July 15, 2011]

Last Friday, July 15, 2011, the group was able to begin establishing a plan for the envisioned collaboration journal which aims to increase awareness of water pollution. The group believes that creating an environment where different people will be able to discuss about the factors that cause water pollution can be able to somehow help make the participants realize that in their own little ways, they may still be able to contribute to the resolution of this particular problem.

First of all, the group identified their objectives for their proposed plan. Their primary objective was to increase public awareness on water pollution through group and collaborative discussions in this blog page. The group intends to post informative articles about the current casualties caused by water pollution which can also serve as grounds for further discussion. Other objectives include the group's aim to explore other different collaboration tools that they may be able to also use for this project and also, to be able to narrate how all the collaboration tools were used in order to make the project possible.

As a result of the said meeting, the group was able to organize the blog page that they will be using for the project. Plans have been made on what kinds of articles and blog entries will be posted on the blog page where participants may be able to discuss with one another. Pretty soon, the group hopes that a reasonable amount of articles have already been posted in this very blog page.

During the meeting, different collaboration tools have already been presented so that each member will know what he will be needing as the project is in progress. These tools include Yahoo! Messenger, Facebook, Twitter, TypeWithMe, cellular phones, and e-mail. Yahoo! Messenger and cellular phones are the group's primary mode of communication. Most of the time, Yahoo! Messenger and cellular phones are the tools that are used due to their instant messaging features. Facebook and Twitter, on the other hand, also have live updates although they do not come as instantly as with the previous ones. TypeWithMe will be used for the documents that the group will be needing to accomplish as a group. This will enable simultaneous editing between the group members so that the documents will be accomplished faster and therefore, increasing efficiency and productivity. If ever documents will be done individually using text editors such as Microsoft Word, then files will be sent through Yahoo! Mail. Each member of the group may also be able to help one another during the creation of these documents using TeamViewer; this software can be used by an individual to control another person's computer.

Additionally, schedules can be posted in Facebook as well so that the group will be able to keep track of the deadlines per week. Facebook accounts can even be linked to Twitter accounts so that anything that is posted in Twitter will also be posted on Facebook.

The group will continuously be holding meetings regarding this project so that its execution can be done smoothly. The group believes that soon, a reasonable amount of blog entries concerning their topic has already been posted in this blog page. Hopefully, these little ways of preserving the environment will be able to create an impact on this planet that we consider our home.
